THESE Jobs Are Still Hiring Even During the Coronavirus Pandemic

With many businesses temporarily or permanently closed due to COVID, the nation has been facing record high unemployment rates. Those in the service industry have been hit especially hard, as restaurants, shops, bars, and entertainment venues are still not allowed to operate at full capacity. However, there is some hope for those who are unemployed and looking to change their circumstances.

Shipping and Delivery Companies

Of course it is no surprise that one of the industries with the most available jobs right now is in shipping and delivery. Those who are already licensed to drive commercial delivery trucks are highly sought after. Even if you do not have much experience or any licenses, it is still fairly easy to break into this industry. Companies like Amazon are hiring for their fulfillment centers and warehouses, and little training is needed for these jobs. If you have concerns about safety at mass delivery companies, consider smaller local courier services that may be more sensitive to your needs.

Grocery Stores and Food Delivery

Even in a pandemic, everyone needs to eat. The added difficulties of sanitizing and following other safety measures mean that many companies are actually in the need for more workers. Albertsons says they're looking to hire 50,000 new people while Kroger is planning to hire 20,000 more employees. In addition to working directly in grocery stores, there is also a lot of demand for other food delivery services. If you love grocery shopping for people, Instacart needs more workers for their grocery deliveries. Those who do not feel comfortable being officially hired by a company may want to try working independently to deliver food with UberEats or Doordash.

Online Tutoring Companies

With many schools switching to online learning, students are often left struggling to learn difficult concepts. More and more parents are starting to hire online tutors, so companies like Outschool are desperate for good tutors. Having a degree in education is helpful, but just about anyone who has schooling in a relevant subject matter may be able to get a job. The great thing about these jobs is that you can do them from the safety of your home, so it is possible to get a job even if you are immunocompromised. Most online tutoring companies will let you do all your work with a webcam, so you do not have to visit the office each day.

Technology Companies

More and more jobs are moving online right now, leaving the tech sector scrambling to handle the increased workload. Of course some of the obvious companies to try are remote work companies like Zoom. However, just about any tech company is seeing an increase in business that may lead to more jobs. If you can code or have customer service experience, many companies may be interested.

Childcare Agencies and Individual Families

If you are good with kids, there are all sorts of opportunities open for you right now. There are thousands of families where parents are struggling to find childcare because they still need to work while school is out. Depending on your location, some daycares are open and looking for staff. Many families are also using sites like Care.com to hire a nanny. This can be safer than things like working as a grocery store clerk, since you are usually only exposed to one family instead of seeing hundreds of people each day.

Big Box Stores

Retailers that only sell things like clothing or electronics may not have many hours, but most big box stores are actually looking for more employees. They need more people to handle all the challenges of running a store during COVID, and many stores report business is up since people are trying to stock up on supplies. Companies like Walmart and Dollar Tree have announced plans to hire thousands of new workers. Several home improvement stores, like Home Depot, have also announced that they need new workers. If you are willing to work with the public every day, there are all sorts of sales representatives and cashier jobs available. Many big box stores are also hiring for corporate positions due to the higher workload, so there may also be some remote office jobs available.
